Payroll SpecialistRobert Half

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing and support payroll-related compliance, reporting, and employee inquiries. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of payroll procedures, tax regulations, and payroll systems, along with the ability to handle sensitive information with accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time

• Maintain payroll records, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposit information

• Review and audit timesheets, wage calculations, and payroll changes

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations

• Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, benefits, and tax forms

• Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end reporting

• Prepare payroll-related reports for finance, human resources, and leadership teams

• Coordinate with human resources and accounting on new hires, terminations, and compensation changes

• Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and payroll audits

• Assist with payroll system updates, testing, and process improvements

Requirements

• Payroll management and accounting controls

• 2+ years of payroll experience

• Knowledge of payroll taxes, garnishments, deductions and wage laws

• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Paychex or similar

• Strong Excel and reporting skills

• High attention to detail and confidentiality

• Associates or bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business or related field preferred

• CPP certification is a plus
