Business Central Subject Matter ExpertRobert Half

Description We are looking for a Business Central Subject Matter Expert to support the effective use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central within a real estate and property organization in Chicago, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position will partner with finance, accounting, IT, and operations teams to strengthen system performance, improve day-to-day workflows, and help users get the most value from the platform. The role is well suited for someone who combines strong controllership knowledge with hands-on system expertise and a practical approach to solving business challenges.

Responsibilities:

Act as the primary point of expertise for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, guiding teams on system capabilities and best practices.

Evaluate current accounting and operational workflows, then recommend and implement improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and control.

Configure and maintain system settings, financial features, and user access to align the platform with business needs.

Troubleshoot functional issues, investigate root causes, and coordinate timely resolution with internal stakeholders and technical partners.

Develop meaningful financial and operational reporting that supports decision-making, compliance, and performance visibility.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure Business Central works effectively with related business applications and processes.

Provide day-to-day user support, answer functional questions, and deliver training that improves adoption and consistency.

Document system procedures, recommended practices, and process changes to support continuity and ongoing optimization. Requirements Strong experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in a functional or subject matter expert capacity.

Solid background in controllership and core accounting operations, including financial processes and internal controls.

Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into practical system configurations and process enhancements.

Experience creating reports and analyzing financial or operational data within an ERP environment.

Ability to diagnose system-related issues, prioritize needs, and communicate solutions clearly to varied audiences.

Comfortable working across finance, IT, and operational teams in a collaborative business setting.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a Long-term Contract role.
