Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payment operations in Rockville, Maryland. This position is responsible for managing invoice review, coding, and disbursement activities while helping maintain accurate financial records and timely vendor payments. The ideal candidate brings hands-on accounts payable experience, strong organizational skills, and confidence working in NetSuite within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval before processing them for payment.

Assign correct general ledger coding to invoices and enter payment details into the accounting system with a high level of accuracy.

Manage routine payment cycles, including preparing and executing check runs in accordance with established deadlines.

Reconcile accounts payable records and help resolve discrepancies related to invoices, vendor balances, and payment status.

Communicate with internal teams and external vendors to address billing questions and ensure prompt issue resolution.

Maintain organized documentation for invoices, payment records, and supporting financial materials for audit readiness.

Monitor accounts payable activity to help ensure transactions are recorded correctly and processed on schedule.

Requirements

At least 2 years of hands-on experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

Practical experience processing invoices, applying invoice coding, and supporting regular payment runs.

Working knowledge of accounts payable procedures and financial recordkeeping best practices.

Experience using NetSuite for invoice entry, payment processing, or related accounting tasks.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume work accurately and efficiently.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
