Job Summary

We are a Boston-based general contractor that self performs the mechanical, looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our team. Our company roots go back to early 1900s, and our current management has been successful and growing for almost 40 years. We have a very strong team that works well with all personalities. We strongly encourage a healthy work/life balance. Our team works on Federal and State projects and has a large variety of experience. Our projects are located around the Boston area, so reliable transportation is imperative.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting Project Management staff with various duties such as attending meetings, working on submittals, RFI’s, change orders, correspondence, assisting with billing and other administrative type activities to manage projects.

  • Assist with some estimating activities such as attending walk throughs, delivering bids, making calls to subs, and assisting with assembling and submitting the actual bid.

  • Assisting with buying out and setting up new projects. This would entail collecting best and final numbers from subs, sending out letters of intent to subs, assisting with preparing subcontracts and following them through to completion including collecting insurance certificates.

  • Assisting both the general contracting division and the mechanical contracting division in assembling of bid packages.

  • Assisting both the general contracting division and the mechanical contracting division in preparing operation and maintenance manuals on projects that are completed.

  • Updating, documenting and distributing general and project construction meeting minutes.

  • Assisting with general preconstruction duties in the normal course of the construction project progress from bid to project start.

  • Assisting both the general contracting division and the mechanical contracting division in field coverage in a Superintendent type capacity as needed.

  • All other duties performed by an Assistant Project Manager for companies which provide similar services as VDC or as otherwise requested by VDC from time to time.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Assistant Project Manager

  • Strong Mechanical knowledge

  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license

  • In depth knowledge of construction process

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Bachelor's Degree (relevant field)
  • Microsoft suite1 - 3 years
  • Procore and Bluebeam1 - 3 years

  • OSHA 30 certification
