Project Manager - OperationsRobert Half

Description We are looking for an experienced operations-focused Project Manager to support a CPA firm on a contract basis. This role is suited for someone with public accounting experience who can evaluate existing workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement practical improvements that strengthen day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of accounting environments and can work across teams to introduce effective processes, tools, and best practices.

Responsibilities:

Review current operational and accounting workflows to uncover gaps, streamline activities, and improve overall efficiency.

Lead process improvement initiatives that support stronger execution, better coordination, and more consistent outcomes across the firm.

Partner with internal stakeholders to evaluate how work is performed and recommend practical changes aligned with business needs.

Apply public accounting experience to refine procedures, strengthen controls, and promote operational best practices.

Oversee projects from planning through implementation, ensuring timelines, priorities, and deliverables remain on track.

Utilize QuickBooks knowledge to assess related processes, support optimization efforts, and improve the effectiveness of financial operations.

Provide guidance on the use of TaxDome and other operational tools as part of broader workflow enhancement efforts.

Track progress, communicate updates, and help teams adopt improved processes successfully. Requirements 10+ years of experience in public accounting.

Proven background in evaluating business processes and driving operational improvements.

Strong understanding of best practices within accounting or service-based environments.

Hands-on experience with QuickBooks.

Ability to manage projects independently and coordinate multiple priorities effectively.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication skills with the ability to work across teams and stakeholders.
