Medical Biller/Collections SpecialistRobert Half

Description We are looking for a Medical Biller/Collections Specialist to support a healthcare organization in St Louis Park, Minnesota through a Contract assignment. This position focuses on managing the full billing and collections cycle, including outreach to families regarding private-pay balances and payment arrangements. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in healthcare revenue operations and a detail-oriented approach to resolving outstanding accounts, denials, and appeals.

Responsibilities:

Manage a high-volume billing workload, processing and monitoring approximately 100 to 150 accounts with accuracy and timeliness.

Oversee private-pay receivables by contacting families, discussing outstanding balances, and establishing practical payment plans.

Track unpaid claims and patient balances, following up consistently to improve collections performance.

Investigate denied charges, identify root causes, and take corrective action to support reimbursement.

Prepare and submit appeals with appropriate documentation to address payment disputes and denied claims.

Maintain complete and organized billing records to support account resolution and compliance expectations.

Coordinate hospital-related billing activity and ensure charges are submitted and reconciled properly. Requirements

Hands-on experience in medical billing within a healthcare nursing home setting.

Proven background in collections, including direct communication with patients or families regarding balances.

Working knowledge of denial management and the appeals process.

Ability to manage a steady volume of accounts while maintaining attention to detail.

Familiarity with private-pay billing procedures and payment plan coordination.

Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective account follow-up.

Proficiency in reviewing billing information for accuracy and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
