Cash Application SpecialistRobert Half

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Cash Application Specialist to support a retail organization in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. This is a Contract position focused on applying incoming payments accurately, maintaining accounts receivable records, and helping keep daily cash activity current and organized. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with cash applications and payment posting, along with a strong commitment to accuracy and timely processing.

Responsibilities:

Record and apply customer payments to the appropriate accounts with a high level of accuracy.

Review remittance details and match incoming funds to open receivable balances.

Post daily cash transactions and ensure account activity is updated in a timely manner.

Investigate payment discrepancies, short pays, and unapplied cash to support accurate account resolution.

Work closely with accounts receivable and related internal teams to maintain clean and current customer ledgers.

Reconcile cash receipts against supporting documentation and banking records.

Monitor outstanding items and follow established procedures to resolve posting issues efficiently.

Assist with payment-related process updates or system-related changes as needed within daily operations. Requirements At least 1 year of experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, or a closely related accounting support role.

Working knowledge of cash posting, payment application, and receivables processing.

Ability to review payment details carefully and enter information with strong accuracy.

Experience identifying and resolving mismatches, unapplied cash, or posting errors.

Comfortable working with accounting systems, spreadsheets, and transaction records.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring tasks and meet deadlines.

Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
