Description

Our client is seeking a Collections Specialist to support their team on a project basis through the end of the year. The position focuses on maintaining account performance, resolving delinquency issues, and delivering effective customer interactions. This role is fully onsite in Somerset County, NJ.

Collection Specialist Responsibilities:

Manage a portfolio of past-due consumer and commercial accounts, following established collection practices to reduce delinquency.

Contact customers by phone and written correspondence to discuss outstanding balances, secure payment commitments, and document all collection activity accurately.

Review account histories and billing details to identify payment issues, recommend next steps, and support timely resolution.

Coordinate with internal teams to address account discrepancies, update records, and ensure collection efforts align with institutional policies.

Monitor repayment arrangements and follow up consistently to improve account recovery and maintain service standards.

Apply banking or credit union collection procedures while handling sensitive financial conversations with care and discretion.

Requirements

Collection Specialist Requirements:

Working knowledge of credit and collection processes, including billing follow-up and delinquent account management.

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally when negotiating payments and resolving account concerns.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and account notes.
