Senior Accountant, Farmingdale, Long Island, NY

Anna Parson at Robert Half is working with a growing bank is seeking a motivated Senior Accountant to join its growing accounting. This Senior Accountant role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key accounting functions, support financial reporting activities, improve processes, and serve as a trusted resource within the department.

As the Senior Accountant, you will:

• Work on core accounting activities including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, cash management, and financial reporting

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities while ensuring accuracy and compliance

• Prepare and review account analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules

• Assist with the preparation of banking and regulatory filings such as the Call Report, FR 2900 Report, and Y-9SP Report, ensuring reporting requirements are completed accurately and on schedule

• Partner with auditors, departments, and management on financial reporting and compliance initiatives

• Identify opportunities to enhance controls, streamline processes, and improve operational efficiency

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to accounting staff while remaining hands-on in day-to-day operations

• Participate in special projects, system enhancements, and ad hoc financial analysis

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and account reconciliations

• Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP/accounting systems

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

• Banking, financial services, or regulated industry experience highly preferred
