Description

Our client, a growing commercial construction company, is seeking a Contract Staff Accountant to support accounting and finance operations across multiple active projects. This position will focus on job cost accounting, project financial analysis, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a deadline-driven environment and has prior experience supporting construction or engineering organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile project-related transactions.

• Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Support month-end and year-end close activities.

• Monitor project budgets and perform job cost analysis.

• Assist with subcontractor billing, lien waivers, and vendor payments.

• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.

• Reconcile retainage receivable and payable accounts.

• Assist with cash flow forecasting and project reporting.

• Prepare audit schedules and support annual audits.

• Analyze variances between estimated and actual project costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

• 3-5 years of accounting experience.

• Experience within construction, contracting, engineering, or real estate development industries preferred.

• Strong understanding of job costing and project accounting.

• Experience with AIA billing and WIP reporting.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.

• Experience working within a project-based accounting environment.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
