Description

A mission-driven nonprofit organization in White Plains is seeking a Contract Accounting Clerk to support its accounting and finance department. This role will assist with day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and data entry. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys contributing to an organization that serves the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices and vendor payments.

• Assist with accounts receivable, cash receipts, and deposits.

• Perform bank and account reconciliations.

• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.

• Input financial transactions into the accounting system.

• Assist with monthly closing activities and journal entries.

• Support grant expense tracking and reporting.

• Prepare spreadsheets and reports for management.

• Assist with audit preparation and document requests.

• Collaborate with finance staff to ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

• 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or clerical accounting experience.

• Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred.

• Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge, MIP Fund Accounting, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks.

• Exposure to grant accounting and restricted funding.

• Experience supporting annual audits.
