Job Title: Production Planner
Department: Materials
Summary The Production Planner's primary responsibility is to create and maintain production schedules that balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and inventory objectives based on customer requirements. This position will create releases to ensure materials arrive in accordance with the production schedule; and will be responsible for managing the replenishment process of materials to support manufacturing operations. This role will prioritize production needs, track schedule adherence and attainment performance, and expedite critical orders. The Production Planner will work closely with other stakeholders to support on-time delivery, quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules to support customer and operational requirements.
- Review demand, forecasts, and production capacity to create effective production plans.
- Monitor system requirements to identify capacity constraints, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Maintain and validate planning, inventory, and master data within the ERP system to ensure scheduling accuracy and data integrity.
- Issue release orders consistent with ERP System requirements to ensure delivery on a timely basis.
- Coordinate delivery of materials with vendors and expedite shipments from suppliers as needed to meet production schedules.
- Review existing inventories through cycle counts for accuracy and as a cross-check to ERP System reports.
- Work with Production Operations to make necessary adjustments to schedules based on availability of supply or labor.
- Participate in yearly inventory planning and counts.
- Crosstrain and provide support for planning, scheduling, and inventory management activities as needed.
- Manage communication on deliveries and supply issues to all stakeholders (i.e. Shipping/Receiving, Sales, Production, QA, Product Development, etc.).

Education and/or Experience
- Previous experience with Plex preferred.
- General knowledge of ERP systems.
- Proficient with Excel/Power Point/Word
- Good presentation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals and contracts.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with vendors and internal staff.
- Ability to analysis data, identify issues and problem solve to correct issues.
- Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management / Purchasing / Business preferred.
- Minimum of one but prefer more than three years of Supply Chain experience.
- Must be willing to attend Supply Chain continuous education seminars or class work as needed.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
