Sr. AccountantRobert Half

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Petersburg, Virginia and provide high-level support to the Controller. This Long-term Contract position will play a key role in capital expenditure tracking, fixed asset accounting, and core close activities while helping maintain accuracy across the general ledger. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Partner with the Controller to oversee accounting activities related to capital investments and fixed asset initiatives.

Prepare and record journal entries that support accurate financial reporting and period-end results.

Lead assigned month-end close tasks, ensuring deadlines are met and balances are properly supported.

Reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis and investigate variances or unusual activity.

Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, retirements, transfers, and depreciation-related updates.

Review capital project spending to confirm proper classification and alignment with accounting policies. Requirements

Must have CAPEX and Fixed Asset management experience.

Strong working knowledge of month-end close processes and general ledger accounting.

Strong technical skills and proficiency in SAP highly desired.

Ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and efficiently.

Background supporting fixed asset accounting and capital expenditure tracking.

Excellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and support multiple priorities.
