You will work closely with the team on the following key tasks

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python microservices

To be successful in this role you need these skills (required):

• Bachelor’s Degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience

• Must possess an Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph

• Proficiency in Python and related backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask).

• Experience with containerization, especially with Docker

• Experience in Extraction, Transformation, and Load (ETL)

• Hands-on development experience in a Linux environment including bash or bash-like scripting

• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservice architecture

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the U.S. Army Headquarters Installation Management Command (HQ IMCOM) Provost Marshal Higher Headquarters Assessment (HHA) Program, which enhances force protection readiness across U.S. Army installations.

As part of a multidisciplinary team of Subject Matter Experts, you will conduct 7–10 annual installation assessments that help Army garrisons align with Army Protection Program standards and strengthen their ability to prevent, protect, mitigate, respond to, and recover from emerging threats.

Team members review installation documentation, interview personnel, inspect facilities, evaluate protection functions, and identify cross-domain trends that support both immediate improvements and enterprise-wide policy enhancements. Throughout each assessment, you will educate, guide, and advocate for installation personnel by providing clear, actionable recommendations that strengthen cybersecurity and force protection.

This position plays a critical role in shaping IMCOM's cyber readiness by informing policy, training, modernization initiatives, and enterprise-level recommendations while supporting the Program Manager in meeting all contract requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as the Cyber Security SME supporting HQ IMCOM Higher Headquarters Assessments (HHA).

• Provide cybersecurity subject matter expertise during inspections of U.S. Army installations to evaluate Cyber and IT compliance.

• Review cyber threats, security plans, policies, and procedures to identify risks and recommend improvements in accordance with Army regulations and policy.

• Support the management team in reviewing and developing cyber policy while identifying emerging cyber threats, trends, and operational concerns.

• Develop informed recommendations for cybersecurity training and exercises based on operational experience and best practices.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

Primary Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities.

• Leadership & Team Development
• Member of the IMCOM HHA team, ensuring compliance with Army quality and regulatory standards.

• Perform network traffic analysis utilizing raw packet data, net flow, IDS, IPS and custom sensor output, as it pertains to the cyber security of communications networks.
• Understand attack signatures, tactics, techniques, and procedures associated with advanced threats.
• Requires good technical writing skills as each event, including the associated analysis, are documented in a ticketing system for review and action.
• Requires excellent communication skills as we are collocated with our customer and regular face-to-face interaction is necessary throughout the day, as well as significant coordination and communication between team members.

 Basic Qualifications.

• Ability to obtain Secret Clearance. Ability to achieve TS/SCI clearance level
• Bachelor's, additional relevant work experience and/or military service may be considered in lieu of degree
• Networking: TCP/IP Fundamentals, Network Traffic Analysis, Wireshark, Cisco Packet Tracer
• Programming: Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML
• Systems: Linux, Operating Systems Concepts, Computer Architecture, MySQL
• Security & Analysis: Security Monitoring, Threat Detection Concepts, SIEM Concepts, Risk Mitigation, NIST Framework Concepts
• Experience working with DoW / Government.
• Strong computing system knowledge, particularly networking, including a knowledge of communication protocols and familiarity with common computing security elements such as IDS/IPS systems and firewalls.

Preferred Qualifications.

• Active DOW Secret Clearance.
• CompTIA Security+, TCP/IP networking, Linux systems, Cisco Packet Tracer, Wireshark
• Familiarity with Military Regulations and security compliance procedures
• Experience with both CONUS and OCONUS threat environments to Department of War facilities.
• Command Line Scripting skills (PERL, python, shell scripting) to automate analysis task.
• Knowledge of hacker tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP).
• Familiarity with computing security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and Cyber Kill Chain.
• Monitoring of intrusion detection and computer defense appliances (Splunk, Elastic), applications, and analysis of associated alerts.
• Knowledge of advanced threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP)
• Understanding of software exploits.
