Essential Job Functions:
The Courtroom Clerk position is responsible for facilitating all aspects of court proceedings, while serving as the liaison between the Judges and Magistrates in preparing court orders and records for Baltimore City Circuit Court. Records cases using the Courtsmart System. Prepares, maintains, and processes court orders in accordance with established procedures. Assists customers in person and by telephone.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare Court Docket:
Print court docket.
Ensure all files are present, locate file if not present.
Review prior court order to ensure correct hearing type and status of respondent.
Remove all reports from file for the court to review.
Check for issuance of summonses to parties and writs to various institutions.
Check to ensure all statistics were entered from the last hearing and research each case to ensure information is correct.
Operation Courtsmart in the Courtroom:
Scan docket into Courtsmart.
Tag each case as called.
Playback if required by Court.
Operations:
Assist the Court as needed.
Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and processing court orders/records in accordance with established procedures on Odyssey in Court.
Prepare docket entries on Odyssey in a court file.
Mark and maintain exhibits and other related materials.
Schedule and reschedule hearings, i.e., arraignments, trials, dispositions, and reviews.
Issue writs/warrants/detainers/ jail cards, etc.
Contact various departments to transfer incarcerated parties to court hearings.
Maintain case information by entering/updating case data for statistical purposes.
Assist customers in court and by telephone.
Send copies of court orders to parties that are not present.
Prepare court orders for cases that are not scheduled on the docket but referred to the Court from written correspondence from the public or agency persons.
Verify and update address information for parties.
Search incarcerated partied thru VINELINK.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma (or GED equivalent).
Experience: Two (2) years of work experience, to include one (1) year in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole and probation, legal or financial services.
Note:
A bachelor?s degree may substitute the required work experience.
A Paralegal/associate?s degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.
A Paralegal Certificate may substitute the required work experience.

As a member of the Administrative Office of the Courts' executive staff, and under the direction of the Assistant State Court Administrator of Human Resources, assists in the development and direction of the Maryland Judiciary's Human Resources programs, to include developing the division's annual budget and formulating the Judiciary's human resources policies, procedures, services, and operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Workforce Planning:
Develops short and long-term-plans and goals and identifies and defines the scope and objectives of special projects. Manages, oversees, and assigns projects to Human Resources managers/supervisors and establishes working arrangements with management of other Judiciary stakeholders for participation on project teams, pilot studies in selected locations, designation of staff for standing position evaluation committees, and other intra-Judiciary activities. Projects also may involve developing working relationships with management and staff of other state, county, and municipal agencies and/or private or public sector organizations, such as the Central Payroll Bureau, Department of Budget & Management, the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Labor, State Department of Assessments and Taxation, etc., or to establish contracts with vendor firms for the purchase of services or commodities, and for contract management. Staffs and/or supports committees, subcommittees, and workgroups as requested.
Operational Leadership of the Judiciary Human Resources Division:
Orients and develops subordinate managers, supervisors and staff and, as they become proficient, delegates increasingly more responsibility for assigned duties. Monitors and oversees work of subordinate managers, supervisors and staff, conducts periodic staff meetings, and otherwise guides, directs, and ensures that staff are performing assigned work within relevant objectives, mission, goals, strategic initiatives, policies and procedures, federal and state laws, and other parameters. Coordinates activities between human resources units to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness of the division as a whole.
In conjunction with the Assistant State Court Administrator of Human Resources, determines the type and number of staff needed to provide necessary HR services and designs the organizational structure and defines the functions and responsibilities of each unit and staff position. Ensures all HR staff are fully trained. Works with all relevant AOC groups and other agencies, as needed, to ensure continuity of all human resources functions in the event of a COOP occurrence.
Recruits, trains, supervises, and handles performance management issues and disciplinary actions when appropriate.
In conjunction with the Assistant State Court Administrator of Human Resources, or through close interaction with HR staff, handles the investigation, resolution, and implementation of the most sensitive, complex, and unusual requests, actions, and DLS and internal audits, many of which have broad Judiciary-wide implications.
In consultation with the Department of Budget & Finance, Central Payroll Bureau and Judiciary senior management, and in conjunction with the Assistant State Court Administrator of Human Resources, serves as the primary resource in the development and validation of the Judiciary?s overall compensation structure, personnel, benefits, and other human resources related budget matters. Confers and consults with other Judiciary managers, administrators, and executives, as well as those in other public and private organizations, to develop effective interpersonal working relationships, resolve issues, and identify and develop plans, projects, policies, and goals, any of which may have broad intra- and inter- organizational impact. Directly, in conjunction with the Assistant State Court Administrator of Human Resources, and through subordinate staff, prepares cost, statistical, and other analysis, necessary documents, and recommendations regarding approval/revision/rejection of proposed human resources-related actions that have financial impact, to include new position requests, recruitment, reclassification and promotion costs, reorganizations, variable pay such as bonuses or education reimbursements, and similar programs.
Minimum Qualifications:

Essential Job Functions:
The Senior Judiciary Clerk is a hybrid clerical position performing both Judiciary Clerk (case processing) and Courtroom Clerk duties and responsibilities on a continuous basis for Worcester County Circuit Court. Duties include, but are not limited to, entering new cases; updating existing case information into the court?s data systems from beginning to end; and assisting judges and magistrates in the courtroom. Greets and assists the public in person and by telephone with information about cases or court policy and procedure. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Processes new Criminal cases and docket pleadings in Enterprise Justice and sends out for service of legal process by Sheriff?s Office, Private Process or Certified Mail.
Reviews and maintains pleadings/filings, updates existing case information, and ensures that all necessary documents are complete and accurate in accordance with established court procedures. Issues Summonses, Subpoenas, Writs of Habeas Corpus, and Warrants/Body Attachments.
Prior to Court, prints docket, prints and reviews Case Summaries for each case, and prepares paperwork for courtroom. Prepares the assigned courtroom for the day?s scheduled trials by placing the docket and all necessary paperwork and case files on the judge?s bench.
Records court proceedings, prepares necessary forms/paperwork, and enters case dispositions, judgments, postponements, fines, and costs awarded by the judge in the court?s case.management system. Enters open court proceedings in Enterprise Justice following Court and process paperwork.
Greets and assists the public and court related personnel, responding to inquiries regarding the proper completion of various court related forms and information regarding court policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

Essential Job Functions:
The Courtroom Clerk conducts and assists with all court proceedings including Criminal, Civil, Family, Jury Trials, Truancy, Juvenile, Domestic Violence, and CINA cases for Calvert County Circuit Court. The incumbent of this position completes docket entry sheets for each case, enters information in the Enterprise Justice System to reflect the information provided; and generates temporary and final protective orders for service upon the Sheriff?s Office. Answers calls from outside agencies, the public and counsel. Completes other duties as assigned, including assisting with expungement cases.
Prepare docket sheets, prepare criminal forms for court, test equipment for proper operation. Ensure that all parties are present prior to calling the Judge into the courtroom. Complete docket entries from all court hearings in the Enterprise Justice System, record bench time, assist and provide information about cases to attorneys and the public. Prepare all paperwork such as probation, restitution, commitment, bail bond, and release forms/paperwork. Interpret rulings and compose docket entries on hearing sheet.
Assist in selecting and documenting the jury selection process, to include roll call, record number of strikes by attorneys, maintain a list of jurors selected, communicate with jury commissioner as needed. Administer oaths to jurors, witnesses and interpreters. Take notes, mark exhibits and generate necessary paperwork, and review information for accuracy prior to submitting for the judge?s signature. Update court files for criminal, civil, juvenile, and family cases and input data as needed to complete court files. Enter dispositions, judgements, postponements, costs and court orders into Enterprise Justice System.
Review work for accuracy to ensure proceedings of court are recorded in a clear, concise and legible manner.
File stamp pleadings, true test and certify documents, sign and seal grand jury summonses. Process transcript request, assist Judges and Magistrates as required.
Responsible for daily activity of assigned courtroom and maintaining organization for ease of workflow. Assist with other clerical functions and customer service when not assigned to the courtroom.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
Experience: Two (2) years of work experience, to include one (1) year in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole and probation, legal or financial services.
Note:
A Bachelor?s Degree may substitute the required work experience.
A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.
A Paralegal Certificate may substitute the required work experience.
