ABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is looking for a General Maintenance Technician to complete assigned preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance repairs.  

Pay:  $19-$25\Hr. Monday-Friday 1:30pm-10:00pm

The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position.   A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the General Maintenance Technician is to address student and residence hall reactive / requested repairs and services and basic preventative maintenance work orders and maintain a safe environment for building occupants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  1. Holds working knowledge and experience with HVAC systems (EPA Universal preferred).
  2. Completes basic preventive and corrective work orders as assigned.
  3. Carries out varieties of general repair tasks and provides excellent customer care.
  4. Holds basic working knowledge and experience with plumbing, door hardware and locks, panic bars, etc.
  5. Ability to change ballasts and outlets and switches when de-energized.
  6. Has plumbing awareness and skills related to drinking fountains and restroom fixture repair and replacements. 
  7. Carries out furniture and fixture assembly, adjustments, relocations and repairs.
  8. Carries out minor painting and wall touch ups and minor repairs.
  9. Advises supervision of identified defects in equipment, potential problems and other building related issues that require additional higher skill attention. 
  10. Maintains mechanical equipment rooms in a safe and clean manner.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 1- 2 years of basic maintenance experience as described in essential duties above, and 1 - 2 year of relevant experience in basic building maintenance and repair.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees or the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

A valid state driver's license.
