Security Officer - Military veterans preferred

General Purpose of the Position: The purpose of this position is to preserve order, protect property and personnel, and enforce regulations through officer presence, video surveillance, the use of positive access control while maintaining an updated log of all events. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Surveillance of multiple facilities Vehicle / Foot Patrol of multiple facilities Control Access to multiple facilities Maintain updated incident log of all events Report writing Shipping / Receiving Clearly / Effectively communicate with staff and customers Provide officer presence to customers / employees Provide escort for tours / vendors Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry Obtains help by sounding alarms Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers Controls traffic by directing drivers Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Assumes the responsibilities of internal mail retrieval, sorting and distribution, as required Other Duties: As assigned Required Job Skills: Strong communication skills Strong problem solving skills Strong tactical decision making Strong multi-tasking ability Computer Equipment and Software: Windows OS Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Education and Experience: Certification: Valid Drivers License Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: Military or Law Enforcement or 5 years of prior Security experience Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
