Purpose of the position:

The Sales and Application Engineer is responsible for achieving the sales goals of a defined range of the companys Industrial Production in a defined territory. The territory that this person will cover is Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan. He/she will visit customer sites, identify projects and instrumentation requirements, provide advice on appropriate applications, and sell those company products.

Main Tasks

  • Respond to requests for technical, price, delivery, and service information.
  • Provide advice on the appropriate application of each company product.
  • Develop and implement a sales strategy in conjunction with the Sales Manager.
  • Identifies and penetrates OEM and Tier companies and coordinates strategy with the Sales Manager.
  • Identifies new application opportunities and unique market requirements, consults with the Sales Manager and Application Experts on special solutions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of new and existing products and applications.
  • Prepares customer price quotations.
  • Assists in preparing special project proposals as required.
  • Attend and support exhibitions, conference, and industry association meetings.
  • Supports the introduction of Kistler products with customers through direct on-site support potentially including product installation and training for customer engineers and technicians.
  • Acts as an expert at trade shows to help market Kistler products and generates new business opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with customer to ensure needs in the product are defined.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited four (4) year college is required.
  • Must have 3+ years of technical sales experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products.
  • Authorized to work in the US.
  • A current and valid drivers license and passport are required.
  • Physical requirements: ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Travel requirements: available to travel 60% of the time by car.
  • Airline travel is required as well as occasional trips abroad for training.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in the application of force, pressure and torque transducers, associated electronics, software, and controls to measure, monitor and evaluate manufacturing processes in the application areas addressed by those products.
  • Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical systems and assembly operations a plus.
