SUMMARY:
The Area Sales Manager plans, leads, organizes, and controls the activities of the assigned sales representatives within a specified area. This role supports and enables the sales representatives by providing objectives, training, and direction. Provides customer service strategy and support for area and implements marketing initiatives.

JOB DUTIES:
• Analyzes and assesses market conditions and implements marketing initiatives.
• Analyzes and prepares sales forecasts and reports. Collaborates with sales force in setting and achieving short and long-term sales goals.
• Identifies critical skills for sales force and assesses and assigns sales territories.
• Reviews and audits expense reports. Prepares and administers sales budget. Accountable for territory profit margin and sales growth goals achieved through training and coaching sales force.
• Hires, trains, assesses, and evaluates staff performance. Coaches and directs the activities of the work group. Administers pays and compensation/recommends salary adjustments. Prioritizes workload with available manpower. Obtains and allocates resources as required.
• Interacts with other department heads and sales force to assure quality service levels. Identifies new sourcing opportunities and maintains current customer service levels. Interacts with vendors to review performance and evaluates potential new vendors.
• Coordinates special events, develops marketing tools, and assists the Division Vice President.
• Accountable for territory profit margin and sales growth goals achieved through training and coaching sales force.
• Coordinates with sales force to prepare quotes on competitive situations. Evaluates and recommends special discounts.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Provides customer service strategy and support for area.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires a bachelor's degree and five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in industrial sales and three (3) years of management experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
• Sets clear directives
• Develops and maintains strong customer knowledge base and ongoing relationships
• Ability to delegate tasks and hold others accountable for completion
• Experience in fluid power systems, applications, and design
• Develops and maintains strong communication skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: 5-10 Direct Reports
