Description:

Texas Biomed is searching for the Associate Director, Veterinary Resources/Attending Veterinarian to support the Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC). In this role, you are responsible for the ongoing treatment and welfare for a variety of animal species and leading the veterinarian staff to ensure optimum animal care and research model support.


The Role:

· As Attending Veterinarian, has oversight of the animal resources and serves on the IACUC

· Ensures veterinary care and regulatory compliance

· Leads veterinarian personnel to maintain optimum efficiency in process and procedures

· Fosters a spirit of teamwork among veterinarians that allows open dialogue and cohesiveness and creates a workplace culture that is aligned with the core values, mission and vision of the institute

· Assists the SNPRC Director and the Associate Director of Research in preparing base grant renewal applications and progress reports


Our Ideal Candidate:

· A Doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M., V.M.D.)

· A US veterinary license and accreditation by the USDA (APHIS) is required

· Board certification in Laboratory Animal Medicine preferred

· 10+ years of experience in laboratory animal resource management and administration; preferably with nonhuman primates

· National reputation for excellence among veterinary science peers such as holding office in professional societies; serving on NIH study sections or National Research Council committees or the AALAC International Council
