Job Title:

Technical Sales & Development (TS&D) Engineer
Duties:
Support Technical Service & Development (TSD) goals for research and technical service to all internal and external customers leading to increased sales of EVAL copolymer resin and film products.
Provide technical service to select EVAL customers to fulfill all technical needs pertaining to EVAL resins and barrier materials in product portfolio, and to support scale-up of new EVAL resins produced.
Scale-up new product technologies from Research & Development (R&D) stage to Production scale trials of compounded products.
Develop new applications for EVAL resins and other Kuraray barrier technologies.
Conduct technical exchange meetings and general technical training for customers to establish and maintain basic competency for processing EVAL resins.
Facilitate expedient specialized testing and provide responsive on-site support.
Develop new applications for EVAL resins and support the projects into initial sales for handoff to the commercial team.
Support manufacturing development and scale-up of new EVAL grades and service products by melt compounding.
Translate market requirements into technical targets and communicate this internally.
Research technologies, conduct feasibility testing, estimate production cost, build prototypes, and sample customers.
Verify the improved property performance of modified EVAL resins to meet technical requirements.
Research intellectual property for barrier packaging applications to determine new opportunities and identify competitive threats to EVAL business.
Ensure conformance to safety policies and training requirements.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, polymer engineering, or related field; plus 5 years of experience in job offered or in a position involving industrial polymer development.
Experience in commercializing EVAL and Plantic materials, including technical presentations, promotion of new products, application engineering, and solution implementation for customer use-scenarios.
Experience in developing processing technologies for EVOH copolymers and biomass-derived gas barrier materials.
Knowledge of the basic structural, mechanical, and chemical characteristics of EVAL resins; polymer-processing technology; chemical and physical testing; regulatory affairs; and end-use applications.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) technical EVAL resin and film specifications and concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders and customers.
