Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design Test systems; including writing and/or modifying software code, electrical and mechanical test system design.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve production issues stemming from manual or automated PC-based test systems and related equipment, including hardware and software designs.
  • Participate on cross-functional, continuous improvement and NPD teams to identify test system needs, drive product testing designs, and manage build and production launch of new systems.
  • Write and submit project justifications to acquire capital funding to support and manage these projects.
  • Identify and procure components, including PCBAs, to support proactive and reactive tasks relative to sustaining production test systems.


Qualifications

Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Ability to read schematics, procedures, and specifications to troubleshoot systems.
  • Ability to interpret & apply engineering specifications, agency requirements, and industry standards.
  • Ability to develop and execute test plans to verify production equipment prior to release.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit board design and layout.
  • Basic mechanical design, assembly and/or automation experience.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits & systems, problem-solve.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency when responding to customer support requests.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to provide timely technical updates to production operators, technicians, engineers, and managers.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently in an assembly environment.
  • Working application of LabVIEW, NI TestSTAND, CVI, C, C++, .NET, Python, MS Access, PostgreSQL, PowerBI

Special knowledge, skills and abilities preferred:

  • Experience in an electronic test engineering environment.
  • RoHS soldering and manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with designing, developing & validating test equipment.
  • Experienced with programming and maintaining PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems (i.e., Allen Bradley, Keyence, CTS).
  • Experienced with robotic systems, VFDs, servo and other motion control systems (i.e., Fanuc, Allen Bradley Kinetix).
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and protocols (i.e., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, CANbus, Serial, GPIB, OPC).
  • Six Sigma methodology

Education required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Computer Science Engineering or relevant Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited institution required.

This position is available at four different career levels:

  • Staff II: Two years relevant experience required. MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Staff III: Three years relevant experience required. MS Degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Senior Staff: Five years relevant experience required. MS Degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience. PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of equivalent experience.
