POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Senior Travel Specialist is responsible for promoting travel philosophy and services through good customer service techniques.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee quality control and accuracy on all ticketing and reservations made by the travel specialist staff
  • Ensure department meets all Export Compliance requirements and applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Ensure tickets and reporting meet cost reimbursable requirements
  • Track refunds for unused tickets
  • Arrange airline, hotel and car rental reservations, including changes and exchanges for travel
  • Respond to requests for price quotations for domestic and international itineraries, and inquiries concerning routes, accommodations and other travel details via telephone and/or e-mail in an efficient and timely manner
  • Promote acceptance of fares, rates, and suppliers that match company travel program policy and negotiated contracts; apply discount programs as appropriate
  • Review airline, ground transportation and lodging rates and cross references government rates where applicable
  • Stay informed of all airline rules, regulations, and current affairs
  • Communicate information accurately and appropriately
  • Prepare and/or process documents, review for accuracy and completeness; compare elements for consistency or logical relation, and update information and/or evaluates against policy
  • Assist in tracking and updating database as it relates to travel
  • Work with travel team to ensure financial goals are met
  • Support 24/7 environment, making travel and possible financial decisions

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five (5) years of experience in corporate or commercial travel required; international experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills are required, including MS Office Suite and Internet skills
  • Experience with Worldspan/Travelport+ preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.
