We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Class C Driver position!

Here is some of what you’ll do…

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Class C Driver will pick up and deliver equipment as directed by their Supervisor.or Central Dispatch.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Safely load equipment on vehicle and deliver as directed by the dispatcher.
  2. Observe all State and Federal Laws and regulations that pertain to loading and hauling of heavy equipment.
  3. Observe all State and Federal Laws and regulations that pertain to operating a vehicle.
  4. Observe all Hawthorne Machinery policies and procedures.
  5. Give any necessary instructions to contractor or operator.
  6. Return equipment as directed.
  7. Inspect equipment, accessories, and attachments to determine that they are secure and free of damage when loading and unloading equipment.
  8. Perform and properly document daily vehicle inspections.
  9. Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
  10. Maintain appropriate status with the GPS system.
  11. Attend department meetings.
  12. Assist dispatcher with projects.


Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. Must have experience hauling heavy equipment.
  2. Must have knowledge of loading and securing equipment.
  3. Must have knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to loading and hauling heavy equipment.
  4. Must be able to read maps and find jobsites on time.
  5. Must be a good communicator and have good customer service skills.
  6. Must have a valid California Class C License and a clean driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain.
  2. Handling: Works with hands.
  3. Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts, small tools, batteries, and tampers. May lift up to 60 lbs. with frequent exertion.
  4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
  5. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
  6. Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
  7. Climbing: In and out of equipment.
  8. Vision: Reads rental documents, invoices and bills.
  9. Talking: Communications via telecommunications and in person.
  10. Sitting: Sits in equipment and in vehicles.

ENVIRONMENTAL:

  1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
  2. Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment outside with variations of temperature and weather.
  3. Exposure: Foul odors, fumes and harsh substances.
