Responsibilities

The selected EHS Intern will have the exciting opportunity to collaborate with a rotational experience between two primary MSA Safety Locations in Western PA, MSA Murrysville Plant and MSA New Kensington Plant. These facilities are within a short distance to one another but offer a variation of experience and produce different products from the MSA portfolio. The Murrysville Plant molds and logos hard hats, produces parts onsite for equipment in a specialized machining area, designs tooling for the company, and assembles SCBA Protection. The New Kensington Plant designs and assembles Refrigeration Detection which includes extensive and varying detection equipment. This role offers a unique chance to work with two sites, at minimum three EHS Professionals, and a magnitude of manufacturing and assembly processes. The candidate would gain hands on skills to accompany the academic knowledge acquired. You would learn invaluable skills within a company that manufactures products crucial for protecting workers in communities worldwide.

Responsibilities:

Specific to the location you will have the availability to assist in the following activities:

  • Development and/ or review of Job Safety Analysis’s (JSA'S)
  • Evaluation of ergonomics concerns, including the use of a software to assist in risk identification and control methods.
  • Evaluation of Hazardous Chemicals and improvement to management of chemicals
  • Behavior Based Safety Process partnership with local safety champion teams.
  • OSHA Mock Inspections and VPP Verification activities
  • Auditing and review of site procedures and compliance
  • Development and/or review of the work at heights processes
  • Training associates and reconciling documentation (assisted by the EHS Team), this builds great confidence!
  • Machinery and Equipment Evaluations


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong instructor mindset, including presentation skills.
  • Basic experience in data analysis, methods, and graphing.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental, Health & Safety, or a related discipline, with at least two completed semesters prior to starting this opportunity.
