About the Role:

  • Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS) has approximately 150 Microsoft Windows servers requiring daily maintenance and Operating System (OS) and application patching to resolve security vulnerabilities and bugs. The servers need to be upgraded and maintained using the latest high availability solutions and best practices while complying with DOD Cybersecurity standards. Majority of the servers are virtual servers residing on VMWare. The OS versions include Microsoft Server 2008, 2012 and 2016. The servers are on the SECNET network, which is at the Confidential Restricted Data level.

Ideal Candidate: the candidate will:

    • The contractor shall provide a fully qualified Microsoft Windows System Administrator to perform Microsoft Windows Server maintenance, patching and upgrades at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard following local procedures and best practices.

    • The contractor shall have a minimum of one (1) years’ experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016 or 2019.
    • The primary tasks within this project are described in following paragraphs.
    • The contractor shall fully test builds, patches and upgrades for all assigned Microsoft Windows servers before deployment to a production environment.
    • The contracted system admin shall be responsible to request configuration management board approval before any changes are applied.
    • The contractor shall follow shipyard processes for scheduling patching of systems using the approved software packages (i.e. SCCM, IVANTI, WSUS, BigFix etc.).
    • The contractor shall write, update and/or modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) as needed pertaining to administration, patching and upgrades.
    • The contractor shall monitor assigned assets for current vulnerabilities using provided vulnerability management system.
    • The contractor shall execute file permission requests, to include applying appropriate permissions on network shares, drives and systems.
    • The contractor shall create user active directory accounts following the locally defined account creation process.

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Upon request by the Government, the Contractor shall provide documentation supporting the cybersecurity qualification status of personnel performing cybersecurity functions.
  • Contractor personnel who do not have proper and current certifications shall be denied access to DoD information systems for the purpose of performing cybersecurity functions.

Prior to Onboarding

  • The Contractor shall meet all applicable cybersecurity qualification requirements, including:
    1. High School Diploma or GED
    2. One of the following Cybersecurity Credentials:
  1. CompTIA Security + CE certification
  2. ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
  3. GIAC Security Essential (GSEC)
  4. ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  5. DON-approved college degree from an accredited university
