WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As the Global Director of Men's Merchandising at Billabong, you will play a pivotal role in developing, managing, and executing both global and regional strategies for the Men's product line. Responsible for providing comprehensive analysis, product expertise, and marketplace insights, this position will contribute to the definition of the overall merchandising strategy aimed at driving long-term growth and profitability. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Men's Product for Liberated Brands, the role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams. While some on-site hours at our HQ in Costa Mesa, CA are required, certain duties can be performed remotely.

  • Build Global and regional seasonal merchandise strategy and assortment plan for all categories including: breadth, depth, price-point, revenue/ unit forecasts, margin targets, segmentation strategy, and DTC (.com/ retail space) allocation with the end in mind.
  • Analyze past seasons, competition, and forecast category trends and opportunities for new seasonal development, providing feedback and analysis to design and development teams.
  • Seasonal hindsight, category dashboards, seasonal KPI and Hi-Lo reporting at all key milestones to be reported to management.
  • Aggregate and distill all available analytics (sell in / sell-through / marketplace data / etc.) to build firm financial foundation for inline and speed to market architecture.
  • Plan and forecast revenue, unit volume, IGM, and option count / productivity for Men’s product ranges across business units / channels for all categories.
  • Approve costs, wholesales, and MSRPs, ensuring company margin goals are met and maintained.
  • Collaborate with Product Development to execute seasonal calendars. Accountable for calendar adherence for all global / regional range reviews to drive optimization with global product teams.
  • Manages all seasonal business forecasting through the product creation process from architecture to final PO placement.
  • Partner with design and development teams in reviewing prototypes, photo samples, and submits for approval for all categories from design concept to production.
  • Enter and manage PLM data seasonally and maintain data integrity.
  • Manage SMU and Speed to Market design and development team to assure key account and DTC revenue deliverables are achieved.
  • Preline seasonal lines with top accounts.
  • Present lines to cross functional teams four times per year with the Design Director.
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication with cross-functional sales, retail, ecommerce, marketing and demand planning teams.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing merchandising team.
  • Work closely with creative and marketing on key GTM initiatives and product/brand strategies.
  • Maintain and update all sales rep communication.
  • Manage pagination and M&D responsibilities of Seasonal Range books and catalogs.
  • Create and maintain a yearly budget for sampling and departmental expenditures.
  • Guide the team on prioritizing deadlines, problem-solving, and allocating resources.
  • Lead the team to success by communicating expectations, providing guidance, delegating work, delivering feedback, and empowering the team to be their best.
  • Create and foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented team culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • An in-depth knowledge of market, trends, innovation, competition, and product details.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Business administration or Retail Merchandising preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in Apparel and accessory product (merchandising, buying, selling, development)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Retail math, PLM system
  • Strong Product/Design aesthetic/high taste level
  • Ability to identify and predict future product opportunities/trends.
  • Knowledge of product development calendar, timelines and deliverables
  • Must be able to multitask and work in fast paced environment.
  • Must be proactive with a solution/result-oriented attitude.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication and follow through skills.
  • Must be highly organized and detailed oriented.
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Must be PC and MAC computer literate in Applications – Excel, Adobe Illustrator, Word, Tableau and PLM
  • Experience in Apparel, accessory, outerwear, and footwear categories.

Liberated Brands is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role in Costa Mesa, CA is $140,000 - $190,000. This position is hybrid and, as such, compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by several factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skill set, certifications, and specific work location.
