Overview

Manages, directs and coordinates activities of staff mechanics in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of the plant and/or other company establishments by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and/or staff.

Provides leadership for all maintenance and related technical functions for Ajinomoto Windsor facility in Carthage, Missouri. Participates in the effective management of the Capital Appropriation Program. Directs, coordinates and as necessat manages key projects for the business. Provides support of new product commercialization, food, safety, employee safety initiatives and related process improvements.



Responsibilities

  • Reviews job work orders to determine work priorities. Oversees all aspects of the Maintenance Department on a daily basis to ensure the safe and efficient operation/performance of the Maintenance Department.
  • Completes weekly Safety Walks on a daily and weekly basis to identify hazards
  • Provides day to day management, coordination and supervision for plant facilities to include Buildings, Security, Electrical Distribution, Compressed Air Systems and special process systems such as Boiler, etc.
  • Supports the day to day management of other Utilities to include HVAC and Refrigeration
  • Manages day to day activities associated with Waste Water treatment.
  • Coordinates activities of workers fabrication or modifying machines, tools or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
  • Participates in long-term Maintenance Department strategic direction, including organizational development, Maintenance Department team member development and planning.
  • Directs Maintenance Department activities to provide continuous supply of heat, stea, electrical power, gas or air required for operations.
  • Develops and maintains CMMS program to ensure uninterrupted operation of plant.
  • Uses software applications in receiving shipping, and transferrin parts, components, materials and supplies, and in issuing parts and materials to maintenance personnel. Manages software application to reflect accurate purchase history.
  • Reviews production, quality, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Plans, develops and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize costs and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies required for operations.
  • Directs training and onboarding of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitors expenditure of funds relating to Maintenance Department budget. Responsible for compliance to budget for Maintenance Department labor, parts, inventory management and asset management.
  • Drives technical solutions and ensures effective projects of major maintenance and other facility work.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Equivalent Management Experience
  • Five years of technical maintenance experience with one year of supervisory experience required
  • Working knowledge of Ammonia Refrigeration Systems required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written required
  • Ability to lead and supervise fairly, firmly and consistently
  • Ability to interact and to manage conflict while maintaining composure and perspective
  • Troubleshooting skills to identify, define and solve problems, and to coach team member to do the same
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to focus on details required
  • Strong initiative and the ability to work with others to achieve desired results
  • Working knowledge of MRO materials and equipment
  • Understanding of plant and facility equipment
  • Understanding of material procurement process
  • Thorough understanding of maintenance procedures and processes
  • Working knowledge of CMMS (MP2) (JDE) systems
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word
