Job Description

MECHANICAL APPLICATIONS ENGINEER

Position at AST Bearings LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Motion Industries and Genuine Parts Company, a Fortune 200 company with over 50,000 employees worldwide.

AST Bearings LLC is a leading nationwide supplier of high precision bearings and bearing related products and solutions. We are presently seeking a Mechanical Applications Engineer in our Parsippany, NJ HQ to design bearings and related components and develop technical solutions for customers working with Sales, customers, and suppliers.

The Mechanical Applications Engineer duties and responsibilities also include:

• Support the production of mechanical assemblies by designing mating components and hardware, generating process instructions, and training assembly personnel (AST and customers).
• Use SolidWorks to create 3D CAD models, concept drawings, assembly drawings, and manufacturing drawings for both customers and internal use
• Lead the design of special bearings and new product development for facilities and capital projects, including approving product and application drawings, and reviewing Bearing engineering calculations and failure analysis in accordance with industry standards.
• Use ORBIS modeling software to solve the nonlinear elastic behavior of rolling-element ball bearings.
• Manage technical document information to comply with ISO9001 and AS9100.
• Generate quotations for mechanical assemblies and special bearing projects and work with manufacturing and vendors on associated technical, design, and supply issues.

• .Work closely with Sales, Customers, Purchasing, Quality, and Suppliers to understand and flow customer technical requirements to the Supplier.

• .Train non-technical company personnel in general bearing knowledge.

Must have a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related degree and 2 years of mechanical engineering experience in applications support in the motion control industry.

Position requires occasional travel (10%) to client sites in the US; and must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Salary range: $60,000 per year to $80,000 per year.
