Strategic Analysis, Inc (SA) is seeking a versatile, skilled Outreach, Communications, and Briefing Specialist to support the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) activities. ARPA-H requires a Technical Writer for the Scalable Solutions Office, to play a crucial role in the planning, coordination, and execution of related activities within the ARPA-H organization. This position will support the office leadership and program managers with briefing support, focused on distilling verbal ideas and concepts into written form. Partnerships/Outreach, Communications Briefing, Editing and Events Support to Research- Provide communications expertise, technical writing and editing, desktop publishing, graphic design, event management; assist in communication with congressional and legislative affairs, academic and institutional/industry outreach activities, and programs. Communication activities may include briefing support, pre-publication review, press release development, external conference communication and materials, internal and external website support, multimedia, graphics, and product support.

You must be willing to commute 2-3 days onsite to the ARPA-H facility in DC.

Support Requirements:
  • Assist the Office with other written communication documents, such as the strategic documentation and new start documents.
  • Assist the office to translate the office strategy and programs to various external audiences (stakeholders, performers, general public, etc.)
  • Write and edit technical and non-technical documents and publish internal as well as external research communications.
  • Prepare briefings for internal and external audiences, industry day/workshop presentations, technical interchange meetings, and other briefings and presentations as required.
  • Employ an understanding of publication restrictions including Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
  • Write and edit technical and non-technical documents and publish all internal Research-wide communications.

  • Support the Government lead in the preparation of read-ahead materials, the drafting of briefings or papers, international travel, and occasional non-standard work hours to attend meetings across several time zones.
  • Assist with the office response to Congressionally Directed Actions (CDAs), briefings, and reports.
  • Website Support, Multimedia, Graphic Design, and Products- Provide graphic design services in development of presentations, documents, speeches, electronic media, and video development using PowerPoint presentations, multimedia, exhibits, and conference materials.
  • Provide website design and programming language expertise for the development and maintenance of websites across various platforms, such as WordPress and SharePoint.
  • Use software languages including, but not limited to, Python and R and other services to tie tools and/or applications together into workable systems; build and maintain databases and information stores using applications including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Access, and OneNote
  • Prepare briefings for internal and external audiences, industry day/workshop presentations, technical interchange meetings, and other briefings and presentations as required.
Qualification Requirements:

Experience/Expertise Required:
  • At least five years of experience researching, writing, editing, and proofreading technical data for use in publications and other forms of media.
  • Experience creating technical writing products for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to editorial and Government specifications and standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style. This includes the ability to edit and review documents in accordance with language, style, publication, format, classification, and source standards.
  • Excellent written communication skills, particularly in strategic communications.
  • Ability to take vague concepts and distill them into bullents and other communications.
  • Must be detailed, diplomatic, with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Flexible to juggle various projects at once in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience creating web content/outreach via social media outlets (Linked In, Twitter, etc)
  • Some scientific background and understanding preferred
Education: Bachelors Degree required
Clearance: HHS, NIH Public Trust (Ability to obtain)
