Job Summary:

Compass Systems Inc. is seeking an experienced Tiger Shark Unmanned Air Systems Technician (UAST) to support our Yuma Arizona Flight Team. The qualified applicant should have prior Tiger Shark UAS training and operations experience and possess knowledge of multiple Tiger Shark models with the ability to operate on U.S Ranges (in restricted Airspace) and potentially in NAS under COA. The Tiger Shark UAST team member will be required to support all Technician and Mechanic functions and provide assistance with systems integration and on-board/off-board systems testing. Essential job functions require a strong Piccolo Autopilot and Tiger Shark UAS knowledge base, and particularly the ability to successfully trouble shoot electrical and mechanical aircraft and GCS systems.

Essential Job Functions:

The Tiger Shark UAST must support UAV field exercises, flight operations, safety compliance, and compliance with Compass Systems Ground Operations and Flight Operations procedures, and is responsible for the following:

• Coordinating with AVO during aircraft start
• All pre Safe for Flight checks (prior to AVO Release)
• Operating hand held aircraft starter with full awareness and understanding of associated safety issues for all Tiger Shark models
• Serving as a Visual Observer for operations within visual range
• Communicating technical Information to Compass Engineering Team in support of obtaining Flight Clearance
• Preparing status and trip reports
• Participating in preflight and post flight briefings
• Participating in team planning events
• Ability to disassemble and reassemble 30 horsepower 2 cycle engine in performance or 300 hour inspection is required

Other Job Functions:

• Must participate in Mobile Cross Country Operations (transport of aircraft, GCS, Antennas, and all other items required to conduct flight operations at remote locations)
• Must be willing to work extended hours to abide test schedules
• Daily tool box inventory verification
• Clean as you go and FOD prevention
• Travel up to 20% of the time is possible, therefore schedule flexibility is essential to support this position

Requirements:

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

• NAVAIR direction/qualification letter showing the applicant has been designated as Tiger Shark UAS Technician is desired
• Minimum of three years of experience operating as group 3 UAST preferred.
• Active SECRET Clearance or reactivation eligibility (with rapid turnaround) preferred.
• Basic to advanced computer skills, and experience using applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Tiger Shark GCS software, Electronics Scales, Radio Setup applications, etc. required
• General mechanical skills and experience required.
• General electrical systems skills and experience required (ring out wiring, reading schematics, etc.)
• 2 years of group 3 UAV field operations experience desired
• FAA Pilot Certificate desired
• DOT license is a preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in aviation or associated engineering field preferred
• FAA part 107 UAV certificate preferred
• Must be able to obtain, and maintain an FAA class II Medical Certificate

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit, walk, see, hear, and feel. Occasionally will need to lift/and or move up to 45 lbs. Moderate environment temperature and noise level. Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents. Can learn and apply new information and/or skills. Travel shall be performed as necessary in support of the requirements of this tasking. Occasional travel will be required.
