In this role, you will deliver mental health counseling services to the Alfred State College campus community. This position empowers students to find balance in their lives, acclimate to life on campus, and manage their presenting problems, symptomology, and/or other mental health needs so that they can successfully attain a college degree. You will be primarily located on the Wellsville campus delivering services to all students while investing in focused effort and outreach to students within the School of Applied Technology. Position will also require occasional travel to the Alfred & Northland (Buffalo) campuses. This 10-month full-time position may occasionally require evening and weekend hours.

Primary Functions:

  • Provides individual and group counseling to students seeking assistance with personal concerns, performs crisis intervention and consults, or refers to psychiatric and/or medical resources as needed.
  • Arranges, delivers, and/or advocates for client-centered services such as health care, psychiatric care, housing, food insecurity, etc.
  • Proactively consults with faculty and staff in their work with students and encourages their participation in providing students both individual and group assistance.
  • Develops and delivers training and development workshops for faculty, staff, and key stakeholders including residential life professionals and student staff.
  • Assists in processing student withdrawals, leaves of absence and re-admissions as directed.
  • Assists in developing and implementing inclusive mental health programming for the campus community's First Year Experience initiative.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in counseling, counseling/clinical psychology, or equivalent.
  • NYS licensure, or eligible for limited permit in NYS for licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with case management (arranging, coordinating, and advocating for client-centered services such as health care, psychiatric care, housing, food insecurity, etc.)
  • Substantial experience/training working with diverse populations
  • Experience working with college-aged students (e.g. teens to early twenties)
  • Experience planning and implementing health and wellness programming
  • Experience with telehealth services and virtual video meeting software
  • Experience in electronic medical record keeping systems
