The Project Engineer (TVAC Systems) will support the JETS II in Houston, Texas.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide project engineering support to one or more projects.
  • Prepare engineering specifications, statements of work, and estimates for a wide range of test related projects.
  • Manage budget and schedule of projects that are assigned.
  • Work in a team environment, and report to a section manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes.
  • Coordinate and lead Mechanical Engineering designers, stress engineers and drawing checkers to complete detailed fabrication drawings.
  • Support hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures with test support hardware.
  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed.
  • Place and carefully track progress of procurements.
  • Prepare and present designs at various engineering design reviews.
  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • This position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 2+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team.
  • Ability to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team to trouble-shoot facility problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.

DESIRED:

  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • Fire Hazards in Oxygen Systems Training.
  • Inventor, Creo or other similar CAD Software package.
  • PMP certification.

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
  • This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.


DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.


STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • All of Bastion's employees must be team players.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
