The Program Officer will serve as the main focal point/desk officer for regional teams. They will provide programmatic, technical, operational, and compliance support to Country and US teams. The Program Officer will support the programs in staying on target and ensuring that activities are implemented smoothly. Additionally, they will support the programs in monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting as needed.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in International Relations/Affairs/Studies/Education, International Development, Management, Public Management, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in international development preferably focused on media, freedom of expression, digital security, physical safety, and psychosocial care.
  • Demonstrated management of international assistance programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, financial management, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, or interest in the Central America region is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication proficiency in English and Spanish language is required.
  • Experience conducting assessments, evaluations, and analytical report writing. Experience with data collection and analysis tools preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, and oral presentation skills.
  • Team player with an inclusive leadership attitude.
  • Familiarity with US Government rules and regulations is preferred. Familiarity with donors other than the US Government is also preferred.
  • Familiarity with the media environment in Latin America.?
  • Awareness on gender equality and social inclusion approach.?
  • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Support the management of assigned projects and activities, to include but not limited to, overseeing and providing support for implementation of regional activities and providing day-to-day operational support to project team and field-based staff.
  • Support the development of project deliverables, to include but not limited to, collecting information about activities implemented in the field, drafting and creating project timelines and workplans, reviewing and updating budgets and forecasts, creating and contributing to internal and donor reports, and supporting other products/documents as identified.
  • Support project Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) efforts as needed; analyze, draft reports, support data collection, conduct data entry and analysis, and support successful tracking of indicators.
  • Support clear internal and external communication for the assigned projects; tasks may include, creating and contributing to articles and publications, reviewing and sending written communication, effectively leading small meetings, as well as interacting with donors, partners, stakeholders, and internal contributors.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance requirements are met for all assigned work products and activities.
  • At the direction of project leadership, independently and accurately, perform financial administration tasks (check requests, sub-award approval level, etc.).
  • May have the authority to sign for approval for smaller amounts as defined by the project.
  • As the Program Officer, act as the advocate of the best interest of the Center and country offices being represented,
  • Mentor and guide staff as needed.
  • Other support duties as needed.
