Pacific Coast Producers, a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking a talented and experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at our Production Facility in Salem, OR. PCP is investing in its people and advancing a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America. Our Salem facility produces maraschino cherries and other cherry products in various styles, colors, and flavors and employs between 70-100 employees.

Pay Rate: $31.26 per hour (Effective May 1st, the hourly wage will increase to $32.61). Full time/ 40 hours per week with some weekend and overtime hours required when needed. This position is part of a seniority based Collective Bargaining Unit (CBA) and requires work on various shifts. Must be available to work swing shift (3pm to midnight).

The Maintenance Mechanic performs the following duties:

  • Monitor the condition of all industrial production equipment.
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting and repairs to production equipment, machinery, and general production facilities.
  • Read, interpret and implement blueprints, prints, and drawings.
  • Perform fabrication for plant machinery. Cut and form parts and assemble parts to construct machinery and equipment.
  • Assist electricians as needed to install, repair and replace equipment.
  • Perform arc and gas welding of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Maintain heating system, ventilation, boiler and other equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repair to forklifts and semi-trucks.
  • Perform general carpentry, plumbing and pipefitting.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and hazard free work environment.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance, preferably in a food manufacturing environment. Associate's degree from a mechanical, electrical, or electronic technology program may be substituted for one year of required experience.
  • Proven experience in various areas such as welding, forklift mechanics, plumbing, HVAC, boiler maintenance, instrumentation, machine adjustment and repair, and carpentry which may be assessed by a practical exam.
  • Possess effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and internal customers.
  • Certified to operate a lift truck operator or able to become such.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
