Laboratory Research Technician
This is a position for a research technician at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, in the laboratory of Dr. Pascal Zinn. The focus of the experiments in the lab is to study the mechanisms microenvironment of brain cancer and the developing therapeutic cerebral organoid models. Applicant should be able to operate and set up basic lab and research equipment, prepare culture media, chemicals, and compounds. Performs scientific reductions and analyses involving routine procedures, and performs a variety of standard tests in cellular and stem cell biology. Apply a variety of numerical operations to collected data, and assist in surgical procedures on small animals. Cleans and maintains equipment. Participate in data presentation, experimental results interpretation, and analysis of data at lab meetings and one-on-one meetings with PI of laboratory. Assists with ordering reagents.
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
Must be able to perform basic laboratory experiments as part of a team.
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
