Sharan Lab is interested in understanding the mechanisms by which HIV reactivates a latent TB infection using small and large animal models in BSL3. We use immunology, pathology and single cell RNAseq techniques to perform detailed mechanistic studies. This role will help conduct NHP and mouse experiments to study host-directed therapy in TB/HIV co-infection.

Primary Role:

· Designs the study with the supervisor and conducts scientific research with other team members.

· Conducts BSL3 experiments on animal models, including flow cytometry, CFU plating, pathological analyses, cytokine analyses, confocal microscopy and viral RNA quantification.

· Prepares or assist in preparation of material for publication.

· Prepares or assist in the preparation of grant applications.

· Participates in seminars and scientific meetings appropriate to field of interest.

Our Ideal Candidate: A highly motivated individual with a Doctoral Degree in Immunology or a closely related discipline from an accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of BSL3 and TB-related research, including immunology, flow cytometry and scRNA-seq. The candidate must have first-author papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The research role will be highly collaborative. The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate should be able to handle multiple projects, have exceptional organizational skills and should be a tram player.
