General Summary of Position MedStar Harbor Hospital Float Pool Director of Nursing (DON) Job Overview The Float Pool Director of Nursing is a member of MedStar Health entity-based Division of Nursing's (DON) leadership/management team and is responsible for over 110 staff to include Float Pool Nurses, Float Pool CNAs, Unit Secretaries, Clinical Coordinators, Sitters and Nursing Clinical Supervisors at newly magnet certified MedStar Harbor Hospital. Its areas of specialty include general surgery, orthopaedics, oncology, women and infants’ services, emergency medicine, internal medicine, behavioral health. Harbor Hospital also offers a medical residency program in internal medicine and a transitional program that prepares residents to specialize in other areas. In addition to receiving full accreditation from The Join Commission with certifications in Heart Failure, Pediatric Asthma Care, Spine Care and Stroke Care, it also received the Gold Seal of Approval for Behavioral Health over 5 years in a row and Gold Seal of Approval for Stroke Care and Spine Surgery for over 5 years in a row. Most recently, Harbor achieved its first magnet certification.
