Description

Leidos Dynetics is seeking a talented Small Satellite Bus Lead to support design and development activities for National Security satellite development programs. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

Candidate will support for small satellite & payload development, integration, test & operations. Knowledge of satellite orbits, attitude control, and maneuvers will be required to support mission design, satellite & subsystem sizing, payload software, mission planning tools, and on-orbit operations support.

Primary responsibilities will include supporting development and adherence to a program-specific software development plan, developing and testing software and hardware for satellite payload systems, supporting on-orbit operations, performance analysis, hardware interface testing, and other hardware/software integration activities pre and post launch. This position is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual that loves hands-on  hardware/software projects and wants to take it their experience to the next level of space hardware integration.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university
  • Must have a minimum of 12 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 10 years with a Master's degree
  • Candidates must have knowledge of and experience with complex system engineering practices and processes, including the product development cycle through qualification and production
  • Candidate should demonstrate competency in the fundamentals of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, object-oriented programming, and must possess an aptitude for good object-oriented software design techniques
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong competency in software development in the C#, C++, Python, Java, Objective-C, Perl, or Ruby programming language
  • Candidate is expected to participate in and contribute to software design, code reviews, and physical hardware integration activities
  • Candidate should have experience integrating hardware/software in a SBC, similar to Raspberry Pi, Odroid, or UDOO Bolt
  • The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Candidate must demonstrate a pattern of ethical decisions and a commitment to integrity at the individual level that conform to Leidos Values
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or be willing to relocate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be shown to candidates that currently hold a Top Secret clearance
  • Preference will be shown to candidates who possess a Master's degree from an ABET-accredited university
  • Preference will be shown to candidates who have experience and/or knowledge of the following:
    • Small satellite on-orbit operations support including mission analysis and orbital dynamics
    • Spaceflight hardware development
    • System integration & test experience (HWIL labs, Flatsat, Environmental)
    • In-depth understanding of spacecraft components/subsystems
    • Working government contracts (NASA, DoD, Commercial)
    • Working as part of multi-company and multi-organizational development teams
    • Performing as an individual contributor within a short time period

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
