What you will do Under minimal supervision, the HVAC Senior Controls Technician conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation and commissioning as well as general servicing of control systems including detailed troubleshooting of systems and properly completes required project and service documentation. Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, onsite customer interface. With a high level of complete technical competence, mentors Control Technicians, Service Technicians and Mechanical Technicians on Building Automation activities. How you will do it Provide controls system repair and/or update recommendations and assist in proposing of recommendations to Johnson Controls customers. Diagnose and repair complex control systems malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software. Consult with the customer through data gathered and site assessments. Provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades and or enhancements to existing equipment. Assist sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads. Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction. Report problems or changes to management immediately. Interface with Branch Manager, Service Manager, Service Project Manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required in an ethical and professional manner. Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. May assist with job layouts and bid proposals. Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Meet regularly with customer to become familiar with operating problems. Keep management and customer informed on the nature of service provided and outstanding issues and recommend system enhancements, upgrades and/or replacement. Promote the sale of add-on work. Train the customer in control systems operations. Deliver manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required. Assist in the design and configuration of Building Control systems as defined by the contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations and bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required. Assist in the coordination and creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation as well as the development and testing of software programs necessary to operate the system per the intent of the project requirements. Select order and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinate factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule. Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. Conduct extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines. Completes certifications as required by the company. Execute company sponsored as well as personally initiated training to ensure the highest level of knowledge and capability are maintained. Provide safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors. Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety. Attend required safety training and provide safety leadership and instruction to all Controls Technicians in the branch. What we look for Required: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Comfort Building Automation. Experience installing and servicing control systems on HVAC equipment. Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites. Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people. Effective writing skills as well as understanding of programs and software applications. Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems. Preferred: Experience in HVAC DDC (Direct Digital Controls) systems programming, troubleshooting, installation, commissioning and preventative maintenance as it is related to Building Automations, electrical and low voltage controls components.
