Practice Assistant/Legal Secretary

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is a national law firm with a proven reputation for providing progressive, industry-leading legal, business, regulatory and government relations advice to our regional, national and international clients.

We are currently searching for an experienced Practice Assistant/Legal Secretary to provide a full range of support to Healthcare Litigation and Labor & Employment attorneys in our San Diego office. If you are enthusiastic about litigation law practices and looking for an exciting, team-oriented, business casual environment, this position is for you!

In this position, you will seek to

  • Apply your exceptional communication skills to facilitate a comprehensive information flow within your team, with other internal colleagues, and with external sources,
  • Become a go-to expert in electronic filing systems and a go-to contact for California based filings firm-wide,
  • Ensure accurate records and prompt submittal of billable time for yourself and attorneys within your team,
  • Strengthen your skillset as a litigation support professional by preparing exhibits and documentation for depositions, hearings, and trials, and drafting motions, client correspondence, and form documents such as ADR Stipulations, Rule 26(f) reports, and various disclosures; and
  • Expand your proficiency in healthcare litigation practices by gathering, organizing, and reviewing medical records and preparing complex medical chronologies.
  • Engage your communication, organization, and customer service skills to assist the attorneys and launch the firm into success!

  • High attention to detail and strong time management skills to produce quality work product while keeping yourself and team members on task to meet deadlines,
  • Professional conduct at all times concerning interactions and communications internally and externally,
  • Three (3) or more years of experience as a legal assistant or secretary in a law firm, corporate legal department, or government entity,
  • A high school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

Compensation: $75,000 - 90,000 annually

*Pay ranges are provided in compliance with SB1162, California's pay transparency law; actual pay may vary based on a variety of factors, including education, applicable experience, etc.
