Job Summary:

EDG TECH is looking for an Automation Design Lead to manage activities associated with large-scale operational technology migrations. The Sr. Automation Design Lead position will participate in the planning, definition, leadership, and implementation of OT modernization programs. This role shall supervise and lead teams of engineers, specialists, and designers to complete the system and field wiring/infrastructure design packages to enable field construction activities. The role will be office based in Houston but will lead field survey and site activities as required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Interpret, analyze, and redline client engineering deliverables (i.e., P&IDs, Narratives, and Cause & Effects);
· Will be actively involved in the development and redlining of the following deliverables:
o Review of existing drawings/site survey information to ensure correct instrumentation wiring;
o Local control panel wiring drawings;
o Local control panel layout drawings;
o Field junction box wiring drawings;
o Field junction box layout drawings;
o Marshalling/FTA cross wiring drawings;
o Marshalling/FTA layout drawings;
o Review of existing IRP panel wiring drawings and existing motor starter schematic review (own IRP/MCC interface to verify functionality);
o Instrumentation homerun cable specification;
o Generating cable schedules;
o DCS and SIS IO Loading;
o Wiring drawings;
o Generation of Bills of Materials;
· Define UPS sizing requirements;
· General understanding of Honeywell TDC/Experion and Triconex/Trident control system hardware;

· Participate in client witnessed Factory Acceptance Tests;

· Review and provide input into design documents, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction or procurement use;

· Interacts with client on all engineering and technical matters.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

· Bachelor's degree in engineering required (Chemical Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar discipline preferred);

· Seven (7) or more years of technical experience designing operational technology;

· Ten (10) or more years of total experience in the automation industry ;

· Technical hands-on knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, application of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computer software;

· Knowledge of project execution in automation projects;

· Knowledge of industry / regulatory codes and standards;

· Skill in oral and written communication;

· Strong organizational skills related to engineering activities;
· Management and quality assurance of a team of Autocad technicians / instrument designers / CAD operators;

    Coordination with all other project disciplines for maximum integration of design; Provide field walkdown assistance as questions are identified during home office engineering.

Working Conditions:

· Work is primarily conducted in an office environment but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations;

· Field duties require outdoor work in a construction site or in plant type atmosphere;

· Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;

· Working on a construction site or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels

· Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;

· May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;

· May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

Physical Requirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):

· Must be able to lift and carry five (20) pounds;

· Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;

· Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;

· Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;

· Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;

· Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
