Overview

Kamatics, a divison of Kaman that speicalizes in self-lubricating bearings and engineered products, is looking for talented CNC Machinists! We have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated CNC Machinist II to join our team in Bloomfield, CT on day shift. The core hours for the position are 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM, and we are currently running one hour of mandatory overtime, at the beginning of the shift for a required 45 hours a week. Overttime pay is 1.5x the hourly rate for all hours in excess of 40 hours in a week. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • With limited technical supervision, checks out programming, sets up, operates and adjusts semi-automatic numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring considerable skill
  • Works from programming instructions, operational data and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings
  • Perform operations that may include drilling, honing, boring, milling and turning, screw machine operation, etc., on routine and repetitive operations.
  • Checks parts for conformance to specifications
  • Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor
  • Make recommendations for improvements to work processes. Contribute to 5S program in work area
  • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed


Qualifications

Education:
  • High School diploma/GED
  • Machining Training Certificate preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CNC Machinist II or minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience as a CNC machinist

Skills / Knowledge
  • Understanding of Common GD&T restraints such as runout, concentricity, and Parallelism
  • Proficient in use of shop math
  • Limited technical supervision
  • Requires knowledge of machining techniques such as cutting jaws, touching tools off and tramming fixtures
  • Familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures such as dry run, geometry and wear offsets, MDI functions and basic G codes
