Job Summary

The Quality Lab Technician is tasked with inspecting material for conformance to certain specifications. This position will interact with quality employees, quality manager, paving crews, asphalt plant employees, vendors, management staff, and inspectors.

Main Responsibilities

  • Operating and maintaining laboratory testing equipment to analyze material
  • Reporting and maintaining accurate quality control reports
  • Visiting job sites or plants as the need arises to acquire asphalt samples
  • Resolving sample compliance with ODOT specifications and company's quality control program
  • Troubleshooting and making recommendations to Quality Manager on improving processes
  • Additional duties as assigned


Education and Skills

  • High School or equivalent Vocational School graduate
  • Capable to employ the best judgment and resourcefulness in performing testing and reporting
  • Mechanical competence is required
  • Ability to use and understand basic Microsoft Office products
  • Must possess a valid drivers license


Physical Requirements

  • Most of the work performed will be in a climate controlled lab on concrete floors
  • Will also work outside on uneven surfaces while collecting samples from manufacturing plants and job sites
  • Comfortable lifting 50lbs multiple times per day
