The Highway Design Technician position is available in Wichita, KS, Lawrence, KS, or Topeka, KS.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize CAD software to produce highway concept exhibits, working drawings, and final construction plans with ability to use the drafting tools to their full capabilities.
  • Communicates and coordinates with Team Lead, Project Managers, and Engineers to complete drafting tasks on numerous projects.
  • Gathers, manipulates, organizes, archives, and retrieves project information in a repeatable and efficient manner.
  • Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences to increase capabilities and productivity, focusing on standardizing practices to increase efficiencies.
  • Organize and handle multiple project assignments.
  • Review project submittals for compliance with drafting standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Obtain or currently working towards a certificate or degree providing training in CAD software. Third party certification is a plus, however not required.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD production software
  • Familiarity with Microstation/Bentley design products and DOT formats is a plus
  • Ability to read and understand plans
  • Understand and meet critical deadlines through efficient time management
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of conventional field surveys, notes and processing of electronic field data is a plus
