Modeling & Simulation Analyst

The Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Analyst will primarily focus on the Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE) Simulation and will cross train into other M&S simulation systems (MTWS and/or CACCTUS) as required. The M&S Analyst reports to and receives work direction from the Project Manager through the local Company Site Lead. The M&S Analyst will perform the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide subject matter expertise for integrating Tactical Decision-Making Simulations (TDSs) and other Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE) models and training capabilities into unit and formal school training programs.
  • Operate, and provide instruction on, various DVTE simulations with respect to maneuver, aviation, fires, logistics, intelligence operations, and other individual training simulations.
  • Assist and train designated personnel to set up the DVTE suite and operate the myriad simulation programs that make up the DVTE software.
  • Determine which DVTE model, simulation, or software best supports Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and training objectives identified by the training audience and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Qualify on and maintain proficiency in the DVTE software suite.
  • Cross train as an M&S Analyst on other simulation systems as assigned.
  • Conduct exercise planning meetings.
  • Conduct pre-event tests and evaluation of supporting scenarios and designated exercise terrain into the simulation, to support an exercise or series of training events.
  • As needed, develop terrain/maps for exercises.
  • Translate a military operations order into a simulation scenario.
  • Assist in collecting information from DVTE exercises and training classes for After Action Reviews.
  • Provide feedback to exercise participants on their training and conduct post-event critique and analysis employing after action review systems.
  • Capture and report training system utilization data.
  • Assist in augmenting other simulation program systems in the BSC/CAST contract.
  • Integrate BSC/CAST live, virtual, and constructive simulations to support other DOD agencies' modeling and simulation programs and exercises.
  • Assist Government representatives in the accountability of simulation center assets.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum five years of operational experience in combat arms, with a focus on ground/air fires coordination/delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at the MAGTF-level or above, as measured by actual operational force employment experience.

  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • The ideal candidate has a background in experience as an aviation or ground combat SNCO or Officer, has served in an instructional billet, and has an introductory familiarity or above with simulation-supported exercises.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is conducted on site, in a government facility.
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move computer and associated equipment.
  • Be able to work an unstable schedule, to include holidays and weekends in support of exercises. Exercises often require shifts of 12-14 hrs per day, 7 days a week for the duration of the exercise, which normally are 1-3 weeks in length.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • May require occasional CONUS and OCONUS travel.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.
  • Daily travel in local area during work day (including use of personal vehicle).
SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • A NATO- Secret security clearance is required for this position.
