IDC is seeking a Research Vice President to join our established cybersecurity research practice. The Research Vice President, Cybersecurity drives research, provides thought leadership and advises clients about on the cybersecurity market and its vendors. An individual well suited for this position would be familiar with topics such as endpoint security, security analytics & orchestration, cloud security and security services.

This role may be based in an approved remote US location or in our Needham, MA, headquarters



Responsibilities

  • Serve as IDC’s subject matter expert on cybersecurity market development, forecasting and vendor strategies
  • Provide leadership thinking around how the industry is shifting, and what the impacts of these shifts mean both to enterprise end user organizations and to the vendors delivering IT/cybersecurity software and services and infrastructure products and technologies
  • Develop and/or customize IT/cybersecurity research and consulting projects to meet the specific needs of the external customers
  • Utilize existing and new relationships, in conjunction with technical and market knowledge, to develop and grow business relationships to drive market presence
  • Proactively develop relationships with internal IDC sales teams and acts as advocate for the research service and custom consulting projects as a subject matter expert during sales calls
  • Ability to travel approximately 30%. Travel varies considerably, but heaviest travel periods will be between March and July, then again in September and October


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • 15+ years' experience in market research, telecom business advisory, marketing or consulting specific to the telecom and enterprise services domain
  • Research and/or cybersecurity marketing professional with good knowledge of market analysis frameworks such as market sizing models, market segmentation and competitive intelligence
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze survey data and provide a clear, concise summation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to analyze, present and articulate complex data sets
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills and the capacity to work both independently and within a team
  • Proven ability to read and evaluate financial reports to analyze key drivers that will impact companies’ ability to differentiate and remain competitive

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $171,000 and $190,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
