Please note: This position cannot be fully remote. The position is hybrid, based on our campus in Cambridge, MA, and required to work in-person on campus a minimum of three days per week during the academic year.

Harvard Kennedy School's IT (Information Technology) Department is seeking a seasoned IT Infrastructure Engineer to develop and implement solutions for a variety of IT Security-related projects and initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and operationalizing a robust and proactive security program to protect the school's critical technical infrastructure and data. Strong technical, collaboration, communication, and creative skills are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities (included, but not limited to)

Lead comprehensive design, development, and implementation of HKS information architectures, solutions, and policies. The role will focus on both technical and administrative aspects of security, and requires extensive hands-on experience designing, implementing, upgrading, managing, and supporting network and server infrastructure.

  • Lead research and design of robust and secure IT architecture, solutions, and policies.
  • Lead the build, configuration and documentation of IT infrastructure and Security Solutions.
  • Execute technical direction ensuring stability, reliability, and integration.
  • Establish guidelines and standards for IT services.
  • Serve as an information security expert, recommending strategic solutions and ensuring compliance with enterprise and IT security policies and regulations.
  • Participate in the design, build, configuration and support of application, server, and network infrastructure as required.


Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure systems within an enterprise environment
  • Highly specialized knowledge of a specific technology
  • Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced excel skills.
  • Proven understanding of information security concepts, tools, and standards.
  • Knowledge of advanced information security principles.
  • Demonstrated experience with systems and data query tools.
  • Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.


Working Conditions

  • Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM)
  • GIAC Certification.


Working Conditions

  • Occasionally required to work outside of normal business hours, and may be called during off hours

This position is a fully benefits-eligible term appointment ending three years from date of hire, with possibility of renewal.

Salary Range: $94,300- $169,700

Note: Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range; however, they are ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.
