Process Engineer

The Process Engineer will be part of our team responsible for the systematic approach to process improvements by driving root cause analysis activities, recommend improvements in production methods and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Sr. Plant Engineer, the process engineer will have an impact on plant performance, improving manufacturing and quality metrics. This position is also responsible to develop and maintain training and tracking standards.

When your actions lead to success.
  • Ensure and enforce all company and safety policies in conjunction with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other applicable legislation.
  • Align employees with objectives of implementation and improvement results.
  • Provide system expertise to plant management and personnel.
  • Direct and coordinate in-plant training for continuous improvement activities.
  • Identify areas of improvement and provide solutions that meet business needs.
  • Maximize product quality, yield, process utilization, uptime, and throughput.
  • Reduce rework, cost of non-quality, cost of production, setup, and changeover and cycle time.
  • Implement preventative actions to eliminate non conformances.
  • Identify and record problems relating to product, process and quality systems and recommend or provide solutions through designated channels to correct non-conformance issues.
  • Define, lead, and implement process improvement projects and Kaizen events.
  • Collaborate with other departments in order to implement procedures and improve performance.
  • Ability to understand and implement statistical control and lean six sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to deliver detailed and quality results under constrained timelines.
  • Assist with troubleshooting system / process / equipment issues to determine identify the root cause of out of control or breakdown situations and determine necessary remediation.
  • Carryout failure analysis on non-conforming materials to determine disposition and identify the root cause and corrective actions required.
  • Proactive communication and/or resolution of identified problems.
  • Other duties and assignments as required.

When your expertise drives us.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering technology. Plastics or Chemical Preferred.
  • Knowledge of printing/extrusion/flexible packaging would be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of TPM and demonstrated effective use of the DMAIC process in problem solving.
  • Knowledge of LEAN methodologies.
  • Possess a drive for Continuous Improvement, excellence and enjoy a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees including Production.
  • Requires work in the manufacturing facility with exposure to presses, inks, solvents, etc.
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab, Database & MS Project.
  • High energy level, positive attitude able to work effectively with other departments.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Knowledge of the company’s quality and food safety systems, as well as contractual quality requirements.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical equations and conversions.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
    • Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exemplify professional behavior in all aspects of the position.
