Description Overview

Serves as the principal advisor regarding all financial matters which may affect the short-term or long-term financial success of manufacturing operations for the business group. The incumbent is accountable for planning, developing, implementing, and administering financial control, analysis, operating systems, internal control, and establishing policies for the Division within general policy guidelines.

Scope of the Role

  • Oversees budget and audit process for the business unit; provides appropriate training to management as needed; ensures financial information is produced in a timely manner. Represents and communicates financial policies and matters to appropriate finance committees. Develops annual operating and capital budgets. Uses the budgets to prepare a P&L by business area for the fiscal planning process. Leads the process for timely forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis. Develops budget control policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of the Division’s policies and controls consistent with Company policies and procedures, SEC and GAAP. On an ongoing basis reviews current accounting systems and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance. Oversees the development of financial reporting information that will meet external SEC and other financial government reporting for the Company, assuring compliance with all regulations. Ensure compliance with relevant Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
  • Manages cost accounting/plant accounting function. Prepares financial analyses as needed for product pricing and capital appropriations.
  • Act as liaison with the Division’s external auditor ensuring smooth annual and quarterly audits. Works with auditors in examination of potential changes in accounting policies.
  • Oversees and develops the internal financial reporting for the Division including presentations to Senior Management and others as well as materials used externally with investors, banks, etc. Coordinates the monthly, quarterly and annual closes to ensure timely and accurate completion of each and that fiscal goals are being met. Breaks out reporting by business area and prepares variance analysis for PWI, PVT and POH. Prepares appropriate financial reports necessary to show overall financial performance. Helps develop strategies to maintain the financial well-being of the Division. Provides financial analyses, feasibility studies, etc., to translate the strategic plan into quantifiable data and analysis. Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations.

Experience Required

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and exhibit overall business savvy. Problem solving, analytical skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously are essential. Excellent strategic planning, financial analysis, cost accounting, plant accounting, annual budgeting and general accounting are needed. Requires strong computer skills with familiarity with SAP, Excel, and Crystal Reports strongly preferred. Skills are acquired through a Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting combined with five plus years of progressive financial experience and three years or more as a lead finance person in a company or a controller of a business unit are required.
